Verlag: William Heinemann, London
Illustrator: R. H. Sauter
Zustand: Very Good
No date (inside, more about that later.) Hardcover. Light brown boards with gilt lettering and decoration. About 10 by 7 inches. Illustrated endpapers and blue and black illustrations throughout. Tissue-protected frontispiece in colors. 63 pages. Corners lightly bumped, small bookshop sticker (C. E. Bromwell in Hereford) on lower corner of rear endpaper, which also has a small faint smudge on it, and a name and address written neatly on front free endpaper. Clean, tight and unworn. In the dustjacket, which repeats the cover decoration but in black instead of gilt, and is somewhat "frazzled" at the very top edges from having been pushed up a little too high. Enclosed in a green cloth covered cardboard "thing" ( and I have looked high and low for the proper term for it) which consists of three attached book-sized panels one of which the book is laid upon; the others fold up and over the book, making two layers on the top. (?) A cloth tab is attached to the "spine" side, which is also somewhat faded. The whole is enclosed in a slipcase, covered with the same green cloth but with a dark green leather spine that has six compartments, each compartment bordered in gilt, with one one containing the title, one the author and one "London 1920." (Which is probably "the date" that doesn't appear inside.) All spine lettering in gilt. The slipcase is lightly soiled and lightly worn, still very attractive. I gather from my research that it is highly unusual to find this in the dustjacket and in the "thing" and in the slipcase. I once thought that it was "chemise," but now I'm not sure.
