Über diesen Titel:

Inhaltsangabe: Bill Dawson, the last living member from the first class of Naval Special Warfare operators, then known as as Naval Combat Demolition Units, one of the predecessor groups that evolved into the modern day Navy SEALs. Bill provides a rare first person look into the training, personalities, and non-classified activities of his unit in the Pacific Theater of Operations from 1943 until the end of his service after the Japanese surrender. The book reproduces photographs Bill took during his service, vintage clippings and rare examples of Japanese propaganda. Retired Navy SEAL Commander and noted Naval Special Warfare historian Tom Hawkins adds historic perspective and detail.

Über den Autor: Bill Dawson is the last living member of the first class of Navy SEALs. He trained with Class 1 in Fort Pierce, Florida in 1943 and graduated as a member of Naval Combat Demolition Unit-2, a precursor group to today's Navy SEALs. NCDU members were among the first U.S. troops to start most invasions, from Normandy to Leyte Gulf, and did it with in their bathing suits. After helping win the war in the Pacific Theater, Bill returned to civilian life, serving as a fire fighter in Washington, DC and raising his family there. Bill was a founding member of the US Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, and contributed many key exhibits. He remains active in supporting Naval Special Warfare history and heritage.
