Inhaltsangabe: Poet phenom Kwame Alexander grabs his pen again to carve words into the emotional heart of the human spirit. In his third book of poetry, Dancing Naked On The Floor, Alexander intentionally and successfully abandons all rules of conformity and runs wild among the playfulness of words.

He uses new and ancient writing to explore love, life, and truth within oneself. Sample titles from his book, Why Alabama Has No Professional Sports Teams, Ten Teasons Why Fathers Cry At Night, Spellbound, and Haiku for Maya Angelou just give you a taste of the intensity that his book in packed with. In a separate "Extending the Dance" essay section, he divulges his no doubt controversial thoughts on bad writing, and his hotly debated views regarding poets and spoken word artists. Dancing Naked On The Floor uses deft wit and wide-eyed focus to bridge the gap between passion and politics; family and freedom. Alexander takes the "soul" of words and uses them to relinquish the hidden emotions we all have buried under years of memories.

Über den Autor: Kwame Alexander is not a newcomer when it comes to words. According to Publisher’s Weekly, Midwest Book Review, and the National Association of Women in Publishing, this thirty-six year old poet is a pivotal figure in contemporary American literature and publishing. Publisher, poet, playwright, and author of eight books, Alexander has hosted and produced over two hundred live literary-related readings, programs and festivals. He has served as a judge for several local and national literary awards, including the Georgia Writer’s Awards, and the Washington, DC Parkmont Poetry Awards.

As a literary expert and commentator, he has appeared on a variety of television and radio programs including Fox News, Tavis Smiley, BET’s Teen’s Summit, News Channel 8’s Entertainment Forecast, NBC Affiliate WBAL (Baltimore), Washington, DC station WPGC; and NPR’s Kojo Namdi Show. He has also been featured in the Washington Post, Poets and Writers Magazine, Publisher’s Weekly, Detroit Metro-Times, Washington Times, Sacramento Observer, Baltimore Sun, Vibe Magazine, Source Magazine, and The Virginia Pilot-Ledger Star.

Recently, Alexander served as a script consultant for the PBS series Moneywise; and scriptwriter for the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO) PSA, narrated by Bill Cosby. Two of his plays, The Seventh Son, and Nervosis, have been professionally produced in Washington, DC, at the Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre and the Capital Renaissance Theatre/H Street Playhouse, respectively.

Currently, Alexander is moving full force to embrace another challenge for himself, television. His upcoming career in television will combine both his literary excellence and his charming personality.
