Inhaltsangabe: In 1963 Jack Griffith brought an idea to the drawing board that was to become a milestone in high performance automobile history. He envisioned a powerful British-American hybrid sports car that would join Ford V-8 power with a lightweight TVR British fiberglass body design to become the Griffith motorcar.

Building on the growing momentum of the early Sixties muscle car craze, Jack Griffith started to produce an automobile whose legacy would continue to resound until early into the twenty-first century.

Considered the car that could have unseated the Shelby AC Cobra as the king of the hill in the sports/muscle car era, the Griffith succumbed to pressures leveled by an unprecedented east coast-wide dock strike in 1964-65.

Mike Mooney has taken the stories of the car and the people who brought this extremely fast Griffith car to life in his latest book, The Griffith Years, and has turned it into a definitive history of this very unique and historic sports car.

As one of the original test drivers for Griffith working with Mark Donohue, Mooney has spent more than fourteen years documenting the truth and rumors about the car as well as interviewing the workers who were part of this historic automotive moment.

Mike Mooney has put the complete history of this motorcar into 152 pages of action, photographs and quotes that will help you to relive the heady days of 160 mile-per-hour, European-American hybrids that emerged in the super-fast days of Carroll Shelby and Enzo Ferrari.

Über den Autor: Born with his fingers on the typewriter, Mike Mooney enjoyed driving and writing about cars. Dad was a editor and publisher of a small town weekly newspaper and the printer's ink rubbed off.

Following graduation from high school and a stint with the United States Marine Corps in Southeast Asia, Mike joined the Suffolk County (Long Island, New York) Police force and served for twenty-two years.

It was during that time that he was asked to join the Griffith team as a test driver along with Mark Donohue where Mike was given the chores of wringing out the demons that often accompany a fledgling auto manufacturer and translating these problems to the engineering department.

When the Griffith organization folded, Mike kept his contact list active and, after retiring from the police department, began his quest to document the history of this dynamic Ford-powered British-American hybrid, the Griffith.

Now residing in North Carolina, Mike enjoys sport flying, motorcycling, writing and working on his historic car collection.
