Inhaltsangabe: Miracle is a gripping, explosive and haunting story that completely immerses us in the fragility of humanity with its characters of flesh and blood, the characters we deeply care about. As we watch their lives spin out of control and head towards an unavoidable collision, all we can really do is brace ourselves and truly hope for the best, because they are among us; they are one of us.
Daniel is a young war veteran with PTSD and drinking problem. When his caring wife asks their local priest with big heart for help, things seem to take turn for the better, or do they?
Über den Autor: Davor Radoja was born on March 3, 1979 in Split (Croatia). He is a chemical engineer, but has not been able to find the job in the profession ever since graduating from university and has been pressed to take various manual labor jobs. Without any formal artistic training, Davor has been drawing since childhood, with a long break during and after his college years, so it is only fitting that his beginning of creating graphic novels is quite unusual.
From August 13, 2011-September 29, 2011, on the forum of the most important comics website on territory of the former Yugoslavia, stripovi.com, (stripovi meaning comics), Davor uploaded at least one new page of his first graphic novel by the name of Mirakul (Miracle in English). This way all the forum visitors were able to witness its creation in real time. Davor finished the complete 75 page comic in just 48 days! Although the drawing style was very simple and rough, somehow it fit the hard-hitting, brutally honest story of a troubled young war veteran, troubled priest and troubled society. Instantly, Mirakul caught the attention of the forum readers and its unexpected, controversial ending had people talking for months. In fact, the response to Mirakul was so positive that the forum visitors sponsored its actual printing. The graphic novel was published by Darko Macan's imprint, Mentor.
This wasn't the end, but the beginning, as Davor continued creating with his manic, page-a-day pace and within the next year finished few more hard-hitting, social dramas: Balkanski gen (Balkan s Gene), Mirakul 2: Strumfovi; (Miracle 2: Smurfs), and a few shorter stories, all of which were collected in yet another, fan-sponsored graphic novel, this time a collection, also published by Mentor.
As you suspect, Davor's story has transatlantic connection as well. In the late 2012, one of Davor's biggest fans, Igor Maricic, who lives in the U.S., suggested to Davor to redraw an American version of Mirakul, or better Miracle as the book would be known in the U.S. Miracle would be published by Igor's new company, Epicenter Comics. Never the one to back down from the challenge, Davor took upon the formidable task and redrew the new version at his usual pace, but with much refined drawing style than the original Mirakul. Miracle was published in the U.S. in June, 2013.
Right after he finished drawing Miracle, Davor continued to work on Boje moga grada (The Colors of My City) which is his longest creation so far at 133 pages and which also will be published in the U.S. by Epicenter Comics.
Tireless Davor is currently working on his latest graphic novel, Svinje (Pigs) and at the same time is collaborating with other artists as the script writer on three different projects!
