Inhaltsangabe: Progressive integration is the key to the mastery of the Greek language
Today in English translations alone there are more than thirty different New Testament versions. Many people argue rightly that our translating skills are quite advanced even to an extent to question if we still need to read the New Testament in its original writing, i.e. Greek. We should consider, however, if reading a translation--regardless of how accurate it is--can fully substitute the joy of experiencing the color, vividness, and most of all, the power of reading the original writings. It seems to me that forsaking the reading of the Greek New Testament is an unworthy sacrifice and unfair trade for a mere translation. Like a wise man once said, "He is a fool who is satisfied with a substitute when he can have the original."
However, learning Greek for the Greek New Testament is an arduous task, and like most of my first year students, learning Greek grammar can be the greatest intellectual challenge you ever encounter. Yes, you may also find learning Greek difficult, but such difficulty you first encounter will soon disappear when you begin familiarizing yourself with the difference this language features. I promise that through studying Progressive Greek Grammar the Greek language will begin to make sense to you. Because Greek is a logical language--used by most sophisticated philosophers and theologians--studying Progressive Greek Grammar will prove to you that there is very little room for rote memorization for mastering this language. As I never did in my classroom, I will not ask you to memorize paradigms, and you will not have to parse any word. For hard working students like you, I believe only logical explanation in progressive integration is the key to the mastery of the Greek language.
Professor Philip Lindsley said, "One of the best preparations for death is a thorough knowledge of the Greek grammar." Erasmus confessed before his Greek New Testament: "Even if the Lord would stand in front of me I may not recognize him for I already have One." It is natural that you as a translator of the Greek New Testament should experience transformation of your mind before your own translation, because you realize it is God's very words spoken to you. As your new guide, I hope it will be an exciting trip for you to see the New Testament as you never did before.
Every seminary students, graduates, and pastors have the same problem with Greek
They agree that the knowledge of Greek can be helpful. However, it is extremely difficult to learn and even when they learned it was almost impossible to make it useful and relevant to their devotion, teaching, and preaching.
If you are searching for another Greek grammar book, chances are you also have the same problem, and Progressive Greek Grammar is going to provide you a very different learning experience, which is more enjoyable. Furthermore, Progressive Greek Grammar will demonstrate how you can use Greek for your personal Bible study, or preaching this Sunday, or to write your exegetical paper for academic journals.
Progressive Greek Grammar will let you:
