She removed the book from his hand and replaced it in the tote bag. "Well it goes with the territory. Crime in the city is broadly based on statistics and those statistics change as the demographics change."
He nodded. "You're trying to stay a step ahead of the criminals; that's pretty smart."
"Actually, that's my job. So, besides modeling and acting, what else have you done?" She asked avoiding as much eye contact as possible. His eyes had a way of appearing to read her mind.
"Well, before moving to America, I played soccer for a few years."
"I would never have guessed that. Soccer is such a hard contact sport and with your--" She changed what she was going to say. "Did you quit when you got discovered by the talent scouts of Hollywood?"
"Why did you hesitate to finish what you started?" She shrugged her shoulders. "What I was going to say is irrelevant and I changed my mind."
"I would like to hear it anyway."
Danielle adjusted her posture in the chair. "Alright; I was going to say with your looks, I'm surprised you'd risk marring yourself."
"I could ask you the same question. Why would you want to risk being shot or beaten by a criminal and ruin your beauty?"
Danielle could only find a small flaw in his smile. It was crooked but sexy at the same time. She could feel the arrogance radiating off him from the short distance between them. Not backing down from his intense glare, she eye-locked him dead-on to answer. "I'm not on the big screen for millions of fans to adore me. If I got shot or marred it would go unnoticed around the world."
"I'm sure someone would care. The ring on your finger is a symbolism a man has captured your heart and would be devastated if you were hurt in the line of duty."
