Inhaltsangabe: THIS BOOK is intended for those who have a personal affinity with the 19th century Scottish fishing industry, who would like to recreate something of that history in the form of a model boat, and those who might wish to adopt this hobby but do not know quite how to start. Through text and photographs, readers are given step-by-step guidance on the building and fitting out of clinker- and carvel-built 19th century boats, together with more than 20 sets of plans, all of which have been taken from the original boats, allowing the most inexperienced beginner to complete an accurate replica of a 19th century Scottish fishing boat.
Über den Autor: HAMISH BARBER comes from a family with strong connections with the sea and has sailed since his teenage years. He graduated in medicine from Edinburgh University in 1957 and became Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Glasgow in 1974. Since 1972 he has become increasingly aware of the social dimensions of the 19th century fishing industry in Scotland, and embarked on a program of building exact replicas of the boats for which he has plans. Collections of his models are in the Scottish Fisheries Museum, Anstruther; Nairn Fishertown Museum; and the Annan, Ullapool and Helmsdale Museums.
