Inhaltsangabe: Triumph, Disaster, and Renewal that changed Stage Lighting and the Shape of Theatre. This is the story of an upstart company, Theatre Projects, in the world of British Theatre that created the stage lighting design profession and revolutionized theatre lighting, sound and technology, then went on to become, today, the world's leading theatre design consultancy. Along the way, Theatre Projects became a West End producer and one of Europe's largest lighting, sound, and AV suppliers. Reckless over-expansion led to disaster. A gripping tale of the rise, fall, and re-emergence of an artistically-motivated enterprise in the theatre. Six decades that changed stage lighting, sound, and theatre technology, and transformed the shape of theatre space around the world. An autobiographical story that takes you behind the scenes of a theatrical revolution with this backstage adventure that will challenge, provoke, inspire, and entertain all who work and love the creative world of theatre.

Vom Autor: This is the story of a life backstage and the tale of a company, Theatre Projects, that changed the theatre world. I was an assistant stage manager with ideas above my station! I became a lighting designer in the West End, then on Broadway. Good fortune brought me together with the legendary Broadway figure, Hal Prince, and I became his London producing partner. Then, almost simultaneously, I met Laurence Olivier, becoming his lighting designer, and then theatre consultant to the National Theatre of Great Britain.  Along the way I had always sought to find colleagues who were cleverer than I was. I was lucky here too, I developed a team of colleagues who's extraordinary talents took us to the top; creating the professions of stage lighting design, sound design and theatre design consulting in Britain. From there we expanded around the world and changed the very face of theatre design. In the 1980's, over-expansion led to near-disaster commercially. It took me personally to the edge of nervous breakdown. But we fought -- and survived -- through many individuals' skills and total dedication.  Today Theatre Projects is the world's leading theatre design consulting organization with over 1,700 projects to its credit. This story is also my thank you to many amazing people who journeyed with us along the way.
