Brand New, Unread Copy in Perfect Condition. A+ Customer Service! Summary: "With its explanation of the successive quests for 'the historical Jesus,' [Understanding Jesus] provides a learned and comprehensive antidote to conspiracy claims about Jesus of Nazareth. . . . The author helps students make sense of an often-bewildering array of scholarly voices. . . . Christopher McMahon's accessible prose is supplemented with helpful charts, questions for reflection, topical bibliographies, and a glossary." --Christopher Denny, PhD, St. John's University, Queens, NY "Christopher McMahon's Understanding Jesus: Christology from Emmaus to Today . . . is a refreshingly direct Christological overview in which McMahon allows the debates, concerns, and questions not only of scholars but also of the faithful to emerge from the texts and then to be addressed in a balanced and thoughtful manner. . . . McMahon offers crisp summaries, poignant questions for discussion and reflection, helpful charts, and sidebars, which serve as pedagogical tools. The book's open and inclusive approach invites readers from any background or perspective to make the journey and to encounter the richness and impact of Christ's life in the world." --Shannon Schrein, OSF, PhD, Lourdes University. Über diesen Titel:

Inhaltsangabe: Understanding Jesus fills a significant gap in introductory textbooks on Christology. Although most books focus on the biblical data or contemporary contributions to the interpretation of Jesus, Understanding Jesus moves with ease through biblical material, Christological councils, and contemporary debates, and it even addresses the issues of religious pluralism and Christology--all while maintaining a faith-friendly perspective that is hospitable to readers of a wide range of faith convictions. Sidebars, charts, reflection questions, suggestions for further reader, and a glossary further enhance accessibility.

Über den Autor: Christopher McMahon has a PhD in theology from The Catholic University of America. His areas of interest include Christology, ecclesiology, and Scripture. He is the author of Called Together (2010) and Reading the Gospels (2012), both published by Anselm Academic, and the coeditor, with Christopher Denny, of Finding Salvation in Christ (2011), published by Pickwick. He teaches in the department of theology at Saint Vincent College, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
