Über den Autor: When I turned 18, right after high school I bypassed college to travel the United States. Hitchhiked mostly where ever I went. From 1970 to 1974 I traveled from coast to coast and north to south. I would settle for a few months in a place, get a job to hold me over, and then move on to meet new people and see new places. But I would always return to my hometown where I still live today. My wife and I still travel every other year or so, and I remember all whom I met. A lot of my friends went off to college and earned degrees in different fields in the early 70?s. But I gained something that no degree could have taught me. The Wisdom I had gained from meeting all different types of people, college professor?s; service men just returning from the war. Clergyman of all faiths, and just ordinary people, and all of the aforementioned had their own perspectives on life. I traveled through 2/3 of the country and Canada and the northern tip of Mexico. Things were different then, people would listen to your views and you would listen to theirs. I became a political activist during the Vietnam War, but I always respected the men and women returning home, A lot of my friends fought and a few died in that war. No, I was an activists against our government?s policies, not the men and women who fought it. Then in 1973, the Seize of Wounded Knee happened at the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation in South Dakota. This is when I decided to first start learning about the Lakota. A few years ago I started studying the Lakota Sioux language and the more I learned, the more I would have to look up the meanings of words and this led me to really get into the spirituality of these good people. I?m quite a bit older now, and I am a devout advocate for the Lakota of Pine Ridge. I am also an activists for the wolves? survival in our country. The best way I can lend my voice in support is through my stories and poems.
