Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Dust Jacket Included
Limited Edition of 1000 copies, Volume II only of a multiple volume set. With the bookplate of silent film star, Wallace Reid, which he designed, with ÒWally Reid Ô21Ó printed in its lower right hand corner, and with the ex-libris designation, ÒEx-Libris, Wallace Reid, U.S.A.Ó along the bottom border. The bookplate is a striking two-color design depicting a lovely bare breasted woman in flowing lingerie and pretty slippers lying on the floor reading a newspaper with a small table in the background on which is a lamp and a bottle of wine. Lightly used copy bound in gilt-stamped dark green cloth, with some edge wear and a bit of fraying and rubbing to the cloth, mostly at the top and bottom edges of the spine, and with a couple of minor bumps to the bottom edges of the boards. Wallace Reid (1891 - 1923) was a dynamic and popular silent film leading man actor, who got his start playing a small but memorable role as a blacksmith in D.W. GriffithÕs film classic Birth of a Nation. Reid went on to star in and direct many more films, and sadly, succumbed to an early death after becoming addicted to morphine while he was being treated for a head injury.
