Top of spine is torn with small piece missing. "Teacher's Edition" neatly written on ffep. Based largely upon Henri Murger's own experiences and those of his fellow artists, The Bohemians of the Latin Quarter was originally produced as a play in 1849 and first appeared in book form in 1851. The soiled brown cloth is edge rubbed, wrinkled at the spine ends, and has a 1 1/2" ink line on the rear panel. Some of the lettering on the spine label is rubbed off. A small bookplate of Amélie Rives is affixed to the front pastedown and there is offsetting to the endpapers from the pastedowns. There is very light occasional foxing to the first and last 2 leaves and the pages have a gentle toning. Laid in is a book plate from the auction house stating this book is from the personal library of Rod McKuen.
