Distinctive jacket art by Daniel Pelavin for her books. The 3rd Stella and Stargazer mystery. "This breezy mystery, the third in the Stella the Stargazer series (A Love to Die For; You Bet Your Life), gets off to a quick start when Stella (formerly Jane Austin Smith, accountant), narrowly escapes being crushed by a white van. Witty, smart and utterly brazen, Stella writes an enormously popular astrological column for a Denver newspaper and has been receiving threatening letters. But, after her close call, she quickly puts aside her anxieties to help her best friend, Meredith Spenser, who is charged with the murder of her lover, Tony DeAngelo. Tony, owner of an upscale beauty parlor and spa, was electrocuted while having a foot bath?and a distraught Meredith was seen holding the cord. On the run after surviving yet another attempt on her life, Stella still manages to interrogate (and antagonize) a host of suspects in Tony's murder, and, while ferreting out pertinent information, takes comfort from a constant diet of junk food and the tiny presence of her pet chameleon, Fluffy. Her psychic trances, an integral part of the story, often point her in the wrong direction, but Stella proves herself a feisty sleuth. Because she's more blundering than brilliant, Stella often has cause to thank her lucky stars for seeing her through her hair-raising adventures." -- Publishers Weekly. Book.

NO creases. NO rubbing. NO fading. Bright, clean, square and tight. Sharp corners. Fresh and crisp -- obviously never read. The true first printing of the author's debut novel. Cover design by Daniel Pelavin is entirely different from the trade first edition that was issued later. From the publisher: "Meet Odette, Clarice, and Barbara Jean in the New York Times best-selling novel Earl's All-You-Can-Eat is home away from home for this inseparable Plainview, Indiana, trio. Dubbed 'the Supremes' by high school pals in the tumultuous 1960s, they weather life's storms together for the next four decades. Now, during their most challenging year yet, dutiful, proud, and talented Clarice must struggle to keep up appearances as she deals with her husband's humiliating infidelities. Beautiful, fragile Barbara Jean is rocked by the tragic reverberations of a youthful love affair. And fearless Odette engages in the most terrifying battle of her life while contending with the idea that she has inherited more than her broad frame from her notorious pot-smoking mother, Dora. Through marriage, children, happiness, and the blues, these strong, funny women gather each Sundayat the same table at Earl's diner for delicious food, juicy gossip, occasional tears, and uproarious banter. With wit and love, style and sublime talent, Edward Kelsey Moore brings together four intertwined love stories, three devoted allies, and two sprightly earthbound spirits in a big-hearted debut novel that embraces the lives of people you will never forget.".
