A gentle romance from the 1930s written by a South Australian author. Bumping to the backstrip edges with fading, commensurate with loss of dust wrapper. Slight rubbing and bumping to the book corners. Some marks to the lower text edges of the book and to the back fore edge. Previous owner's name on the front paste down. Heavy browning to the text block edges. Light browning to the internal pages and there are a few stains and handling marks present. The front hinge has cracked between the free front end page and the half title page with the underlying webbing visible. The dust wrapper is showing age and use. Chipping, with loss to the dustwrapper corners and the backstrip edges show even greater loss  please see photograph. some chipping and pieces missing to the top edge of the dustwrapper and the lower edge of the front panel. Rubbing and some marking to the dustwrapper of fading. Dust wrapper now in protective library sleeving. First edition of the work in this format and binding, and/or set or series. 1st edition. 8° 277 pages. Clothbound, good condition. Sprache: Englisch, Alice Grant Rosman (18 July 1882 - 20 August 1961) - also known as Alice Trevenen Rosman - was an Australian novelist. Rosman published some of her early stories in The Observer and The Chronicle, and began her professional career working on C.J. Dennis's Gadfly in 1906. After this she worked for The Daily Herald and wrote a weekly Adelaide gossip column for The Bulletin from 1908-11. In 1911 the two Rosman sisters moved to England where Alice worked on the British Australian magazine from 1915-20. She later became assistant editor at the Grand Magazine from 1920-1927. Rosman published her first novel, Miss Bryde of England in 1915, though it was not met with any success. She continued to publish in the ensuing years but did not receive any degree of recognition until The Window was release in 1926 in both Britain and the United States.
