Buch
Decorative Cloth. Zustand: Near Very Good. No Jacket. New Edition. New Edition 1858. This is the true 3rd Edition and 1st Uniform Edition of Wuthering Heights. The publisher Smith Elder first issued each of the Brontë novels in this single volume edition. Correctly dated 1858 on the title page. Bound in the original orange cloth. Two novels in one volume. The Biographical Notice and the Preface to Wuthering Heights, both by Charlotte Brontë (under the name Currer Bell), were first included in the second edition of 1850. The book is near very good and in bright condition. Light edge rubbing and darkened spine. Wording on cloth dulled. A little fraying to spine tips/corner. Cloth colour a little mottled/marked. Contents good with usage marks to pages. Text block quite tight, a little uneven but overall good. A rare example without restoration. More images can be taken upon request. Ref18648.

With a Preface and Memoir of Both Authors by Currer Bell, Author of Jane Eyre. 'New Edition' (third English edition). 8vo., original orange glazed cloth printed in black. London, Smith, Elder and Co. The third edition overall of one of the great masterpieces of English literature, a rare and fragile publication, its inexpensive manufacture, a necessary evil in bringing the text to a wider audience was not conducive to this particular edition's longevity. The Biographical Notice of Ellis and Acton Bell and the Preface to Wuthering Heights, both by Currer Bell (Charlotte Brontë's pseudonym) were first included in the second edition of 1850. Contemporary bookseller's blindstamp to front free endpaper, neat pencilled ownership inscription in an early hand to head of title page, otherwise generally internally clean; neat repair to joints, spine slightly faded, some light scuffing to covers, corners bumped, still a good copy overall.
