They are a bit bumped/rubbed at the edges, noticeable at the lower corners and ends of the spine. There is some fading at the side edges and at the bottom rear of volume 1. The pages are lightly toned, but very bright and clear. The boards are covered in rust/brown cloth with gilt stamped titles on the spine and front and black stamped on the rear boards.
