The reader's awareness of what to look for in a clock should be sharpened by this book. For example, the odd mark, stopped hole, adapted or "married" piece should be more readily identified and the clock's previous history thus more easily understood. The book also discusses methods of production, the use of batch production and the degree of uniformity among influential makers.
