Marie Cullen is a writer, speaker and addiction recovery advocate. She currently resides in Cranston, Rhode Island with her husband and daughter. Her memoir, The Year of the Dogs, is a compelling account of Cullen's quest to find peace and redemption in the wake of her boyfriend’s fatal drug overdose in September 2000. In May 2005, Cullen accepted the award of Community Member of the Year at the State House in Providence, Rhode Island for her contribution to the substance abuse prevention and recovery sector.
