Reseña del editor:
This engrossing action-adventure story spirals out from a startling nexus of cutting-edge scientific research, high stakes corporate espionage, and inspired futurist imaginings of potential new realities and tantalizingly unknowable outcomes. John Dombek’s Rape: Imagine a World Without Violence is an ambitious work of fiction that bristles with energy, as it invokes a world where appearances are deceptive, intentions are ambiguous, and loyalties are constantly called into question. Welcome to Green Meadows, a biological company conducting research in animal husbandry at a complex housed in a large red barn and silo that mirror the pastoral surroundings of the rural outskirts of Madison, Wisconsin. At first glance, the landscape punctuated only by dairy cows and bales of hay would seem absolutely normal. But, in reality, under the constant gaze of video surveillance and high-tech monitoring systems, Green Meadows masks the state-of-the-art, impeccably appointed research facilities of American Biologic Laboratories, or ABLINC. Here, behind a cordon of checkpoints requiring magnetically-encoded ID badges and biometric eye and fingerprint scans, ABLINC CEO Dominica Wasp has assembled a dream team of bright young minds to tackle a top secret project for the Pentagon. With their every whim being catered to, and their security being carefully monitored by the ever vigilant Victor, four twenty-something geniuses from four different fields—Dr. Rayne Beaupre in epigenetic research, Dr. Dan Cameron in biochemical engineering and nanotechnology, Dr. Pooja Mohari in gene structure, and self-proclaimed computer geek, Olujimi “Jim” Satin—will make astonishing breakthroughs on incredibly demanding deadlines to achieve ABLINC’s goal of delivering a new odorless, colorless, airborne battlefield agent that renders people docile without killing anybody. When their initial testing demonstrates unanticipated results, they quickly realize their pioneering research could be applied to forever alter society for the better. In fact, it could very well mean the cessation of rape throughout the world and the dawn of a new era of enhanced sexual pleasure verging on the ecstatic and spiritual. How will Dominica Wasp respond to this unforeseen consequence? Why is Hans Becker of General Holdings Options Standard Technologies, or GHOST, trying to infiltrate Wasp’s team at ABLINC? And why are there so many video cameras in the Green Meadows dairy barn if it only houses cows? Rape: Imagine a World Without Violence is a propulsive thriller with surprising scenes and stunning plot twists that also raises serious questions about the prospects for genuine social harmony in a world dominated by greed, political self-interest, religious dogma, corporate control, and the continued subjugation of women. With just the right dose of cynicism to ring true with those who remain skeptical that mankind will ever truly change, while also illuminating a transformed vision of humanity that will resonate with those who dream of a better tomorrow, readers of all ages will relish this provocative tale of action and ideas.
