Nancy Shuman is an artist who enjoys writing children's stories, and she illustrates them with her own original watercolor or oil paintings. Her imaginative stories often contain messages. Big Yellow Butterfly explores the ideas of "chrysalis" and transformation. Sometimes the twists and turns of life can lead us into such situations. When it happens to someone we love, it can be difficult to find words of hope and encouragement. Change can be frightening, but it can also lead to new ways of living, new skills, and new experiences. Imagining the newness of change alongside a butterfly can be inspiring or just fun, as the butterfly is one of nature's most beautiful and beloved creatures! Nancy has a master's degree in K-12 Education from Regent University. Her BA in English Literature is from the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville. She lives in a little house in Maryland with her husband of 35 years, and looks forward to holiday gatherings with her three grown children, their spouses, her grandson, and her large extended family.
