Reseña del editor:
When sisters Doris and Virginia took early retirement from their jobs as accountants, they sold their condo in Albany and moved to the suburbs in Wellington. There, they bought a big colonial. Unknown to them this structure was referred to by the neighbors as "The Witch's House." After settling into their new abode and making friends with their neighbor, Ella, the sisters made inquiries about doing some volunteer work to fill their inordinate amount of free time. Ella told them about the Wellington School District's need for volunteers to help some students make the transition from middle school to high school. Since Ella, at one time, had taught Engllish and the sisters were accountants, the school had no problem in placing them with students. Before long Doris got to know twelve year old Max who showed, under her tutoring, a real talent for math. Meanwhile, Virginia, who had given up her son for adoption, when she was nineteen and an unwed mother, never stopped looking for him. She believed she'd found him, but proving it was another matter. As time passed Doris found out that Max was in foster care. She broached the subject of adopting Max with Virginia, who agreed, providing that she could find her son. Problems arose when the sisters learned that Max's real mother was in prison for the murder of a federal agent during a drug bust. Virginia learned that her son was a very important man in Wellington and attempting to find out about his past would prove very difficult, if not impossible. Amidst all these problems loomed "The Witch's House," threatening the lives of everyone with its truth.
