The Adventures of Urple the Purple Dinosaur is about a dinosaur that takes a walk and finds himself in the middle of a big city. Not knowing exactly what to do, he decides to explore the city and observe the inhabitants living there. He smells something warm and sweet in the air and decides to follow his nose, which led him to a bakery. Curiously, he walks in to discover what smelled so good. On the counter were fresh baked brownies, cakes, and cookies. He tried every one, but he especially liked the chocolate chip cookies. He then starts off for home. He saw some children playing a game while he was walking beside a grassy field. He thought that the game looked so much fun he went to ask if he could play too, but he scared the children away. He also learns why he is the only dinosaur alive and what the word extinction means from his wise friend Peter the porcupine.
Biografía del autor:
My name is Kathleen Brokaw. I was born and grew up in Salem, Oregon, but when I got married in 1991 I lived in Mehama. After my divorce I moved back to Salem with my daughters. The both of them now attend college. My oldest daughter is majoring in psychology and my youngest is majoring in theatre arts. I've wanted to become a writer since I was about ten years old. In the summers to give me something to do I used to write short stories. Once I was in my teens the short stories evolved into poetry. I preferred to write poetry because it took less time to write. In 1998 I had a poem published in the Poetry Guild's anthology Whispers in the Garden under my married name Kathy Orr. The poem was titled Elk, but for about 14 years I didn't write until around 2012 when I started The Adventures of Urple the Purple Dinosaur. Now I'm fulfilling my dreams.
