(2015 Edition) Because no translation of the Quran is anywhere near perfect, we believe that those who can, should compile their own unique book containing the best translations that the world has to offer. This of course involves studying the Quran in Arabic, which is now easier than ever, and requires learning from others. As we all discover better translations, our work should be share with others. This book is based on a collection of our favorite translations and interpretations written by scholars and students from the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Some verses are based on scholarly work by A. Yusef Ali, Imam W. Deen Mohammed, Muhammad Asad, M. M. Pickthall, and others–including translators found at IslamAwakened.com. Other verses are based on new translations and interpretations submitted by devoted students of the Quran. And still other verses are a combination of both historical and contemporary translations. This is a collaborative effort, so send us your own interpretations and translations. You may see them reflected in the next edition.

The Quran was revealed to Muhammad the Prophet in Arabic (47:2, 20:113) and this is only an interpretation of that revealed message. I believe that the Quran is guidance from God, for those who realize what it is (2:2). And it is guidance for those who believe in the unknown, establish prayer, who give from what God has given them (2:3), who believe that it was revealed to Muhammad the Prophet, who believe that scripture was also revealed before Muhammad, and who believe in the hereafter. There is no better time for believers to read the Quran than at night (73:6), and there is no better way for them to read than in a slow, measured, melodious voice (Sura 73:4). When these believers read the Quran they learn wisdom (12:2) and truth from God (13:1). It leads them out of darkness into the light (14:1), it helps them to see things clearly (15:1), and it offers them advice from God (17:41). Reading it is worship for believers (21:106). It also teaches them to think, it gives them understanding, and it shows them God's miracles (38:29). It is confirmation (5:48) and further explanation (10:37) of previous scripture. And believers are continuously discovering additional benefits of reading the Quran (18:54).
