Lucy Ilyse Friedland is a 13-year old girl from central NJ. Lucy became a bat mitzvah in April of 2014. Part of becoming a bat mitzvah was doing a service project called a mitzvah project. "Take A Tall Walk With Me" is a terrific children’s book that is product of this project. As a first time author, Lucy wrote "Take A Tall Walk With Me" to raise awareness for equine assisted therapy (horse therapy) and support a wonderful charity called Mane Stream (www.manestreaminc.org). Mane Stream is an organization that is very important to Lucy because her 11-year old brother, Adam, has been receiving therapy there since he was 3 years old. Mane Stream has been instrumental in Adam learning to walk following a physical disability he suffered as a newborn. Lucy’s hope is that publishing this book will raise needed funding for Mane Stream’s vital services and build awareness for the value of equine assisted therapy as an effective therapeutic modality. Each person who reads this book is participating in Lucy’s mitzvah; truly helping all of the clients who benefit from the services provided at Mane Stream as much as Adam does.
