Sasso’s passion is helping caregivers to recognize their value and help them to better balance their work and life with their caregiving responsibilities. The caregiver experience is something that Sasso knows quite well. She has spent her entire young adult life caring for others, which began when she left college to help care for her terminally ill grandmother. From that point on, her caregiving experience has been ongoing. She has cared for terminally and chronically ill relatives and friends for over the past 15 years; while fulfilling her role as a wife and mother and pursuing her personal and professional goals. It was during this time that her faith and self- identity were shaped. “Serving others changes you,” she says. “It helps you to put life into perspective. It was through acts of service that I found healing from my own pain.” She has learned that service should be a way of life and that by refreshing others you to will be refreshed in your time of need. The support of others helped her to see that she could live a full life even though others were depending upon her for their healthcare needs. As the president of Care Keepers Inc., Sasso is looking to provide that same sense of relief to other caregivers, who are faced with the similar challenge of trying to successfully meet the demands of life. She also hopes to encourage communities to share in the responsibility of caregiving by motivating them to identify and extend a helping hand to caregivers in need. She truly believes the Marianne Williamson quote, “In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it.”
