Jim Luke was born and raised in Mississippi, is married to the former Karen Howell and the father of two daughters, Chanda and Lauren. Jim attended Picayune Memorial High School, Pearl River Junior College, University of Southern Mississippi and a graduate of the FBI Command College. He has spent the last forty years in criminal justice management and administration of city government. Jim is currently a member of West Union Baptist Church and has previously served as Director of the Men’s Ministry and a member of the finance committee. Jim holds a Certified Protection Professional (CCP) Certification. He is past president of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Crime Prevention Association, past president of the National Association of Chief of Police for Mississippi, past president of the Mississippi Campus Police Association and past president of the North Hill Property Owners Association. Jim has been recognized on the federal, state and local level for his work in Criminal Justice Management. Mr. Luke has served as Campus Police Chief for the Picayune School District and as Chief of Police for the City of Picayune for 8 years and on January 3, 2011 was appointed City Manager for the City of Picayune. As City Manager he is responsible for an annual budget of approximately $26,000,000 and supervises and controls approximately 200 employees. Mr. Luke was past Chairman of the Partners for Pearl River County Leadership Program. Mr. Luke was nominated for South Mississippi’s Outstanding Community Leaders for 2005 and 2006. Mr. Luke has previously served as Chairman of the Board for the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MSLEAC). He is on the Board for First Southern Bank and was a board member for the Pearl River County Senior Center and was a member for the Community Advisory Council for Highland Community Hospital. He is the past president of the Picayune Rotary Club and a past member of the Jaycees and Kiwanis.
