Reseña del editor:
With a growing collection of more than 300 poems, Xoandre Moats has begun collecting themed volumes of his writings into chapbooks.

Midnight Reflections is a taste of things to come, an introduction to Xoandre's not-quite-normal state of mind.

“My ultimate mission through writing is to expose the raw emotions and depressing thoughts that children go through during and after the trauma of abuse. I write from the heart, with a clear head and stern focus that seems to frighten those who have never known strife. I find it infuriating when I encounter people who say my thoughts should never be presented in this fashion. To them I say: The world is like a midnight reflection. If you don't open your eyes, you will never know what true darkness looks like. You will never know where you might best shine the light of hope for someone who needs it most.”

Contents: 24 poems with notes from Xoandre, imagery designed by Xoandre, photos taken by Xoandre and his mother.

You will be moved, confused, delighted, and frustrated by the poems in this book. This is by design, to make you consider every possible meaning, how you feel about the ideas presented, and find within yourself that thread of revelation and joy at discovering something more...
Biografía del autor:
Xoandre Moats is an Author, Poet, Actor, Spoken Word Poet, and Graphic Designer currently residing in the not-so-windy suburbs of Chicago. Raised in a broken home in and around Galesburg, IL with two brothers, a sister, and a mother who held everything on her shoulders, Xoandre found that writing down his depressed thoughts and musings on life eased the pressure in his mind. Having survived childhood abuse by his father, Xoandre traversed the epic wilderness of depression, PTSD, and found himself alone in a world filled with only questions and no real answers. He buried himself in research behind the human psyche, religious beliefs, and the endless need to be loved, to be listened to, to make a mark in the world... Inspired by the path forged by fellow home-town poet Carl Sandburg, Xoandre left Galesburg for the big city, completely unprepared and yet ready to face any challenge head-on. Many of his writings have an undertone of grim determination. Fans and friends have called his poetry readings "gut-punchers" and audiences usually leave unsettled or with tears of sympathy in their eyes. Xoandre's style is free-verse, with occasional proper form poems in the midst of the chaos. He twists phrases and words, creates rhymes that readers may find perplexing, and has recently begun writing epic love poems. Raised in a Southern Baptist Evangelical home, and recovering from that delusional mindset, Xoandre continually seeks out why so much animosity exists between variations on the same theme of Jesuit-based faiths. He has studied the Bible, the Vulgate, the Quaran, the books of Prophet Kahlil Gibran, and countless pagan and alternate belief systems, and eventually ended up finding the truth of the universe: We are alone on this planet. There is only this one life. We must embrace love and pleasure while we live, because only darkness awaits us in the end. Thus now, you have a generous taste of Xoandre's life and state of mind. Thank you for examining this biography. Please enjoy the books.
