Biografía del autor:
Pradeep B. Deshpande is Professor Emeritus and a former Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Louisville, and President and Chief Executive Officer of Louisville-based Six Sigma and Advanced Controls, Inc. (SAC). He is an author or co-author of six books in process control and related areas and has over 100 technical papers and presentations to his credit. In his thirty years on the faculty at the University of Louisville, Prof. Deshpande supervised twenty doctoral scholars and over forty master’s scholars. His academic career includes brief stints at IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, UDCT-Mumbai, and NCL Pune. Prof. Deshpande has consulted for major corporations in several countries including Exxon and DuPont and has carried out numerous collaborative research investigations with several of them. Prof. Deshpande has made pioneering contributions to six sigma and process control. His natural laws facilitate the fundamental understanding of six sigma, and has also shown how to extend six sigma (pioneered at Motorola for static processes) to dynamic and nonlinear processes. In 2009, he advanced the state of the art of six sigma and process control (Hydrocarbon Processing, June 2009). When Dr. Deshpande’s concepts are combined with those developed at Motorola, it becomes possible to implement six sigma on any repetitive activity, manufacturing or service, static or dynamic, linear or nonlinear. In fact, this understanding leads to the assertion that, six sigma is for life meaning that everyone must think, work, and live the six sigma way. Prof. Deshpande is perhaps the only educator in the world with an internationally recognized expertise in six sigma and was among the first to introduce six sigma training in engineering and MBA programs in the United States and India. He assisted a Management Institute in India a few years ago with establishing Six Sigma Excellence Awards for corporations. A past consultant to United Nations Development Program, he participated in the late 1980s as an invited member of the US delegation in the meetings with the Prime Minister of India, the late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, and senior officials of the Government of India. He is a recipient of several awards including ISA’s Donald P. Eckman Award in Process Control Education. Prof. Deshpande is a Fellow of ISA and is listed in Who’s Who in the World.
