Reseña del editor:
A STORY OF RELEASE AND RENEWAL, OF MAGIC AND DISCOVERY... Natalie Lauren, senior acquiring editor for one of the largest privately held publishing firms in North America, has worked her entire life to make a profound difference in the world. With her employer and best friend, Dane Barnett, she is part of an indestructible team in the publishing industry. But, for Natalie, there is always something missing, and she will soon come to understand the difference between working to have a great life and having a great life that works. Haunted by the tragedies of her past, her own personal darkness, and a shattered relationship with her free-spirited lover, the talented Julian Miras, Natalie is jaded by the life she is living. At a crossroads, she turns to work, the one sure thing that has always saved her. In pursuit of her next publishing project, she ventures to a small island in the Mexican Caribbean, Isla Mujeres (Island of Women). In this tropical paradise she meets Jasmine Dubois, an innocent young waitress who has written a biography of true love that resonates deep within Natalie. She soon discovers that happiness does not lie in the answer she seeks, but in the questions she has always been too afraid to ask. The past that she has struggled to leave behind catches up with her, and she uncovers the patterns that have defined her and the barriers that have stood between her own intuition and self-love. Through the influence of Mayan culture, the goddess Ixchel, the island and its people, Natalie learns what it means to be free, to live a genuine life with an unchained heart—and to journey at last from darkness into light.
Biografía del autor:
Penny D. Burnham is a Canadian writer who was born with the heart of a gypsy and a great sense of adventure. Initially intrigued by the Mayan culture through her own research, Penny discovered Isla Mujeres in 1998 and eventually, in 2006, with only the belongings she could fit into a suitcase, moved to live on the island for five years. Fulfilling a lifelong dream of following her passion for writing and insatiable love for Mexico and its people, she immersed herself into its magical culture and the true Mexican way of life. Her first novel, Jaded Diamond, empowers us all to see beyond the limits of our minds and egos, to break down the barriers separating who we have become from who we really are, and to discover what is truly possible.
