Handwritten two page letter from JOHN RUSSELL, 6TH Duke of Barford (1766-1839), dated 5.4.1796, to the Rev. Herbert Hill, Champlan to the BritishFactory, Lisbon, regarding health issues of his wife. Russell was a Member of the Society of Friends who served as a Member of Parliament (1788-1802), Privy Counciller (1806) and Lord Lieutanant of Ireland (1806-1807). Document: 9" x 7.25".
