Signed handwritten one page letter from John Laird Mair Baron Lawrence, dated September 28th, 1859 mentioning his brother Sir Henry who was killed while holding Lucknow against mutineers during the Sepoy Mutiny. Lawrence was a prominent British Imperial statesman who served as Viceroy of India from 1864 to 1869. Dimensions of letter: 7.5" x 7.25" with East India House seal.
