25 leaves/50 pages. Only the first 13 pages are utilized, which is a real shame, because the photos are terrific, four square to a page, carefully captioned. The train passes through the Rockies and Salt Lake Valley, on its way to San Francisco. There, our travelers carefully document Golden Gate park, and reaching its edge, Seal Rock and Cliff House - the old Cliff House, much more astonishing than its current incarnation. The travelers pass through San Rafael and Monterey before continuing on to Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Pasadena. A day-trip up nearby Mt. Lowe is featured, then a return to Los Angeles to visit an ostrich farm (and the solar motor), before a few more snapshots indicate a return to San Francisco. And thus ends the trip, or at least the photos of the trip - evidently, the return trip east was not deemed worthy of photographic documentation. The spine has fallen off the album, detaching the front cover; the back cover is loosened but not about to detach. 13" w X 9" h X 2" d. An excellent example of travelers' wonder at the west, quite well developed at the turn of the century; and of the excellence of photographic technology when placed in the right hands.
