Shot by Morrison, it documents the state's diverse panorama as few of us ever see it--the thin line of the San Andreas fault, curvilinear rice fields near Merced, and, yes, even Liberace's piano-shaped swimming pool. While the text is couched as an environmental plea, from the air even chemical extraction plants have an eerie grandeur. This coffee-table book has a literate text by former San Francisco librarian (now historian) Starr. Recommended for regional public libraries and many California Christmas lists.
