Cold-formed steel has become an important construction material for buildings. However, significant efforts are needed to introduce the material and recent advanced construction technologies to the building industry. Recent Trends in Cold-Formed Steel Construction: Design, Analysis and Performance addresses cutting-edge new technologies, design methods, and recent research findings using cold-formed steel as the main structural material in buildings.

Following an introduction to recent trends in cold-formed steel construction, Part One explores codes, specifications and design methods for cold-formed steel structures. Computational tools for elastic buckling analysis and optimization techniques for structural analysis are topics in Part Two. Part Three focuses on the structural performance of cold-formed steel buildings, including thermal and acoustic performance, fire protection, floor vibrations and blast resistance. Finally, Part Four covers innovation and sustainability, concentrating on the sustainable applications of connections and joints, portal frames, and beam, wall and floor systems.

This book provides technical guidance to design and build sustainable and energy-efficient cold-formed steel buildings, including the next generation design method, computational tools and technologies. Suitable for both academia and industry, this book appeals to structural and civil engineers, architects, and materials scientists working in the design and development of cold-formed steel structures.
