When did you last look at the Highway Code? Could you answer correctly quesitons on the subjects that it covers? Driving conditions have changed dramatically since it was last substantially revised in 1978. - there were just about 18 million vehicles on the road then compared to 25 million now, but average speeds were much higher. So, today's congested roads need a different set of skills to cope with these conditions, and it is even more vital that today's road user knows what the Code contains. This new edition has had a major facelift and contains: new rules and details of recent changes in the law; greater emphasis on pedestrian safety and drivers' responsibility towards children; expanded sections giving advice to cyclists and horse riders; a completely new section on Light Rapid Transport Systems; and a new section on traffic law, its effect on road users and penalties for the main offences.
