The Family Procedure (Adoption) Rules 2005 support the Adoption and Children Act 2002 which comprehensively modernised the existing legal framework for domestic and inter-country adoption. This supplement represents the first update to the 2005 Rules. It contains amendments to the Rules, Practice Directions and Forms, which came into force on 1 October 2007.Amendments include: Parts 2, 5, 6 and 7 of the Rules - amendments to terminology arising out of the Mental Capacity Act 2005; Practice Directions supplementing Part 2, rule 7(1)(c)(ii)(bb), Part 4, rule 17, Part 7 and Part 19 - amendments to terminology arising out of the Mental Capacity Act 2005; Practice Direction supplementing Part 8, rule 78(1)(b) - amendments to the provisions permitting the communication of information relating to proceedings; Form A50 - an amendment to the wording of the form of application for a placement order so as to reduce the risk of details of adoption proceedings relating to a sibling of a child who is the subject of a placement application from being disclosed inadvertently; and, Forms FP1A, FP6 and FP9 - amendments to terminology arising out of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
