Topics covered include, procedural rendering, modelling, shading and texturing; also included are explanations of how these functions work, and how to design new functions. The book discusses the design and implementation of noise functions, and contains procedural modelling of gases, hypertextures, mountains and landscapes. Procedures are presented in C code segments or in Renderman shading language. The accompanying disk is suitable for an IBM PC, or is compatible with DOS or Windows.
