Inhaltsangabe

Simulation facilities are invaluable for training in medicine and clinical education, biomedical engineering and life sciences. They allow the practice of prevention, containment, treatment, and procedure in a risk-free setting. This book is a practical guide and reference to the latest technology, operations and opportunities presented by clinical simulation. It shows how to develop and make efficient use of resources, and provides hands-on information to those tasked with setting up and delivering simulation facilities for medical, clinical and related purposes, and the development and delivery of simulation-based education programs

Simulations are a core element of training in medicine, surgery, clinical care, biomedical engineering and the medical sciences. They allow the practice of safety, prevention, containment, treatment, and procedure in a risk-free setting.

This book is a practical guide and reference to the technology, operations and opportunities of clinical simulation. It shows how to develop and make efficient use of resources and provides practical information to those creating and operating simulation facilities as well as the development and delivery of simulation-based education programs.

Richard R. Kyle, Jr., BSE, MS, is Director of the Patient Simulation Laboratory at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), Bethesda, MD. He is a co-founder of USU s first patient simulation facility, producer of its simulation-based educational and research programs, and teacher to a worldwide audience on the theory and practice of integrating simulation into clinical training.

W. Bosseau Murray, MB ChB, FFA(RCS)(Lon), MD(Anaes)(Stell), is Professor of Anesthesiology at Penn State University College of Medicine at Milton S. Hershey Medical Centre, Hershey, PA. He is a creator and user of custom clinical simulators, the first Director of the Simulation Development and Cognitive Science Laboratory, and the creator of their multi-departmental teamwork training programs.
