Transport and Energy Research attempts to answer the question "how to reduce household energy consumption” from a behavioral perspective by citing extensive literature reviews and relevant case studies. It adopts a life-oriented approach that emphasizes cross-domain dependencies with respect to various life choices, but also discusses cross-sectoral collaboration for effective transport and energy policymaking. The book focuses not only on the passenger transport sector, but also on the domestics sector. Topics cover autonomous vehicles, time use across space driven by use of information and communication technologies, social issues associated with both transport and energy, and energy-saving lifestyles.
This book is a valuable resource for energy researchers, engineers, managers and planners on the current state of research, giving them the knowledge and tactics necessary to reduce energy consumption at the household level.

Life-oriented Transport and Energy Research attempts to answer the question “how to reduce household energy consumption from a behavioral perspective, throughout extensive literature review and relevant case studies. It adopts a life-oriented approach, which emphasizes cross-domain dependencies with respect to various life choices and allows cross-sectoral collaboration for effective transport and energy policymaking. This book focuses not only on the passenger transport sector, but also the domestics sector. It examines household car ownership and usage, in-home and out-of-home activities associated with energy consumption, the relationship between residential location choice and car ownership connected with self-selection issues, shared mobility and energy consumption. Autonomous vehicles, time use across space driven by use of information and communication technologies, social issues associated with both transport and energy, and energy-saving lifestyles are also covered. This book is a valuable resource for energy researchers, engineers, managers and planners as a reference on the current state of research. It also provides them knowledge about how to reduce energy consumption at the household level from an interdisciplinary perspective, which is useful to graduate students as well. Energy engineers developing technology with a user-centric approach will benefit from the knowledge on user behavior and decision-making. Furthermore, the book offers policy makers comprehensive insights into making more effective policies than traditional approaches.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Transport and Energy Research: A Behavioral Perspective deals with the transport issues associated with energy from a behavioral perspective in an interdisciplinary and systematic way. Existing transport and energy research has focused on technologies and energy efficiency; however, more efficient technologies do not necessarily lead to energy reduction. Unfortunately, very limited behavioral research can be found in the literature. This book covers major transport modes in major countries. It emphasizes the importance of researching the behaviors of not only transport and energy service users, but also transport and energy service providers, policy makers, organizations, company managers, and other stakeholders who are involved in and/or affected by transport and energy policies. It not only overviews the history of relevant research and presents new developments but also extensively discusses the future research issues. Various findings are summarized for reducing energy consumption from a behavioral perspective. This book provides readers with behavioral insights into more effective policymaking. Behavioral interventions are recommended as a key policy instrument for reducing energy consumption in a sustainable way. It provides policy makers with comprehensive insights into making more effective policies over the whole process of policymaking. The book can serve as a handbook for researchers and a textbook for graduate students in the fields of transport, energy, environment, planning, public policy, behavioral studies, and so on.
