This updated second edition discusses current computer graphics hardware and software systems, current graphics techniques and current graphics applications. All parts of the book have been expanded, with more discussion of algorithms and applications, and there is greater coverage of three-dimensional modelling and rendering. Many new topics have been added including distributed ray tracing, radiosity, physically based modelling, particle systems and visualization techniques. The text features numerous programming examples and illustrations written in PASCAL and demonstrates graphics algorithms and features of applications in various areas. GKS has been replaced by the use of PHIGS throughout.
