Students are required to have a background only in programming, calculus, and matrix and vector algebra. The book is on the leaner side as the author feels that too many texts obscure the fundamental concepts with too many details.

Kunwoo Lee is professor at the School of Mechanical and AerospaceEngineering at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. He previously was a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
