You've been there. You're burning the midnight oil. Your brain is toast. All you want to do is go home. But the code freeze is first thing in the morning. You need a cup of coffee. What you really need is WRITING OLE CONTROLS. This practical guide takes nothing for granted and leaves no technical stone unturned. It's a book that can be used everyday and is designed to save you weeks of work.

Author John Puopolo has been there, too. So, you can be sure this book speaks your language. For example:

• Don't understand all of the core technologies? The first four chapters detail object-oriented technology, the Component Object Model (COM), OLE, and interfaces.

Having trouble with code generated by Visual C++4.1? Puopolo dissects the generated code and answers the most asked questions along the way.

• Having problems integrating user-interface elements such as menus, toolbars, status bars, and property pages? All of these mechanisms are thoroughly explained and are demonstrated with code examples that really work.
• Can't subclass Windows controls? Puopolo devotes a full chapter to subclassing Windows controls with advanced code samples to demonstrate various techniques, including subclassing and using the C Picture Holder classes.
• Need practical information on OCX 96 and ActiveX? The book ends with a summary of these two hot technologies.

And not only does Puopolo thoroughly explain how to design and write professional OLE controls, he demonstrates how to do it with a wealth of practical examples and hard-won tricks of the trade. If you've done the time and still have to write the line, WRITING OLE CONTROLS will get you through it.
