Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Roland Barthes (1915-1980), einer der bedeutendsten Kritiker der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts, ist als einer der Initiatoren und Vorkämpfer der semiologischen Revolution bekannt geworden - und für ein Werk, in dem sich biographisches Material und wissenschaftlicher Ansatz miteinander verflechten. Einen heute relativ unbekannten Teil seines Werkes verfaßte er in den fünfziger Jahren. Zu dieser Zeit war Roland Barthes aktiv beteiligt an der Gründung und dem Erscheinen der Zeitschrift "Teatre populaire", eines ebenso ästhetischen wie politischen Phänomens. Anfang der sechziger Jahre gibt Barthes das Theater auf, er besucht es nicht mehr, er schreibt so gut wie keinen Artikel mehr über Aufführungen. Aber er ist langfristig von seiner Erfahrung geprägt: "Im Herzen meines Werks, das Theater".
