Inhaltsangabe

for children's choir and SATB, or SSATB, and piano
The Cloud, commissioned by the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, sets Sara Teasdale's poetic descriptions of nature to music, evoking themes of freedom and transience. Quartel's melodic and uplifting style shines through a vibrant opening and reflective middle and end, unified by steady triplet figures in the accompaniment. Sopranos may divide to sing the children's choir part.

Sarah Quartel is one of Canada's most internationally celebrated and widely performed living choral composers. She is known for her fresh, exciting, and chorister-centred approach to music making, writing in a way that connects singer to singer, ensemble to conductor, and performer to audience.
