This study uses numerous photographs to accompany text describing the author's experience among the tribes of India. For nearly 30 years, Sunil Janah travelled extensively in the inaccessible tribal villages, living as one of them. Thus, he was fortunate enough to have photographed significant moments in the lives of the tribals. The photographs will also be of documentary value as the life of the tribespeople has changed considerably during the last decades. The tribal belts represented cover almost the entire tribal population of India.
