Original Red Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good Plus. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. First UK Edition. 1979. First UK edition. 123pp. Martha Sandwall-Bergström (1913-2000) was a Swedish author of children's and young adult literature, best known for his series of books about Kulla-Gulla (Anna in the English translations). The books are set in Sweden in the early 1900s and cover orphan Kulla-Gulla's (Anna's) life, first on a farm Blomgården, where she arrives as a seven-year-old, and on a croft, where she arrives as a twelve-year-old, until she is in her 20s and is about to get married. The setting and the characters, including the model for Kulla-Gulla, are taken from the barren Småland countryside where Martha Sandwall-Bergström grew up. The present book is the fifth of the series, and Anna and the Karlberg children are now settled at the manor with Anna's grandfather, Mr Sylvester, and Miss Regina, his crippled niece. But all is not well - it seems there is a thief at the manor. It was first published in 1947 under the title Kulla-Gulla löser en gåta. The book is bound in the original red boards with gold titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper is very good with light shelf wear and very slight fading to the spine. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers gChild149
