The above Extracts, which I have selected from the military " Diario" of Corunna, will, I believe, be found to be some of the most inte testing. No. V. Sketch of the Affairs of Galicia; and Sir Robert Wilson's Correspondence with Morillo, referred to from Chapter Seventeen. As the policy in which this Correspondence had its commencement was approved of in a Council of War, and by the Civil Authorities of Corunna; as its renewal was resolved on in the Junta of Vigo, with the concurrence of the Commissioner of the Government of Cadiz; and as the Spanish Ministry ultimately confirmed by its sanction the principle in which it had its origin, I shall enter into the subject with more minuteness than usual. The mere publication of the two first letters which passed between them, would be quite sufficient to prove that the English General was, under Morillo's own hand, not only abundantly authorized to continue the correspondence, but must have been very remiss and inconsistent with his own principle, unless he protracted it to the utmost on such a concession.
