That ship had been captained by her husband, Brayton, and has not been seen or heard from in eleven long months. Resources are scant and finally Mariss is allowed to go - in only a one-man Scout - to find out what happened to Alpha and, if necessary, to complete its mission; to find another home for a humanity losing hope - beyond the Portal.

Eldon Crowe is a writer of general, speculative, and what he likes to call "spiritual" fiction. He is the author of the Creation Series of Fall, Fallen, and Flood, as well as The Boathouse, Sammar, and Portal. His short fiction has appeared in anthologies such as the Canadian Authors Association's Fifteen Stories High. He lives in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, with his wife, Lynda, son, Dean, and a menagerie of feathered and furred critters. He is also sometimes visited by his daughter, Laura.
