This text introduces a logical theory of photographers lighting - one that teaches beginning photographics to predict results before setting up lights. Rather, it provides the reader with a comprehensive theory of the nature and principles of light to allow individual photographers to use lighting to express their own creativity. The third edition includes a new chapter on painting with light - the technique of moving the light source during a long exposure. Also included is new information on shooting digital, in particular the popular method of shooting on a white background so that subjects can be digitally "peeled" off the background and inserted into another image in a program such as Photoshop or Premiere.
